‘COME AWAY’
Come Away” conveys a deep sense of Palestinian struggle, but also a glimmer of hope and a determination to break free from the pain and oppression, yearning for freedom, symbolized by phrases like "fly away" and "need a light, need a spark." The title is a contradiction to reflect the tension and resilience of Palestinian people.
In the face of colonization, the olive trees' that embody Palestinian identity have been uprooted, their farmers assaulted, and the sacred October harvest disrupted. The scars on these trees bear witness to 75 years of unrest, a period marked by challenges and unrelenting struggles. Despite the adversity, the steadfast roots of the olive trees have not tasted the sweet serenity of peace.
The song, much like the olive trees', depicts a journey towards peace, where scars heal, roots reclaim their soil, and a sense of liberation prevails.
“If the Olive Trees knew the hands that planted them, their oil would become tears.”
