‘DON’T CRY LOVE’
The journalists reporting from Gaza during the current genocide have shown immeasurable courage and dedication to their people and to covering the atrocities perpetuated against Palestinians by the IOF and many Western governments.
Despite being under intense bombardment, suffering forced starvation and facing increasing danger, journalists like Bisan, Saleh, Plestia, Motaz, Wael and many more continue to document the irreversible damage and gross impact of the on-going violence. They tell the stories of those killed and injured, and shine a light on the systematic destruction of homes, hospitals and infrastructure.
Their continued presence, typified by the simple press jacket, represents an act of resistance and a refusal to be silenced, intimidated or driven away from informing the world. Tragically, over 100 journalists have been killed in Gaza and along the Palestine/Lebanon border since October, many of them wearing press jackets that should signify protection under international law. Yet the courageous journalists of Gaza continue to bear witness and shine a light through their tireless work amidst the surrounding darkness of genocide. Their reporting ensures the voices of Gazans are heard globally, despite systemic attempts to extinguish them.
